Important to know
Ensure proper coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance, and valve-to-piston clearance are checked during installation. For late '77 and later engines, be aware that the camshaft, pinion gear, and breather valve gear pitch diameters were changed and are not interchangeable with earlier-style components unless replaced as a set. Late '77 and later gear sets are identified by a circular groove machined in the outer face of the cam gear.
